John H. Goddeeris is associate dean for program review & planning in the College of Social Science and professor of economics at Michigan State University (MSU). He holds a bachelors degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Goddeeris has been a member of the Department of Economics since 1980 and has previously served as its Chairperson (1996-2001) and Director of Graduate Programs (1988-1992).

His primary areas of research interest are the economics of health care and public economics. Dr. Goddeeris has published numerous articles in economics journals, including the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Health Economics and the National Tax Journal, and in health journals including JAMA and Pediatrics in collaboration with colleagues at MSU and elsewhere, as well as a number of chapters in edited volumes.

Dr. Goddeeris has been a reviewer for many academic journals and for a number of grant-making agencies, including the NSF, the NIH, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Maternal Child Health Bureau. He has been a consultant to several government agencies and private organizations, and he has been a visiting scholar at the Congressional Budget Office.
