Senior Director of Development

Sarah Blom is the senior director of development and alumni relations for the College of Social Science at Michigan State University (MSU). She serves as the chief advancement officer of the college, providing overall leadership for the development and alumni relations operations of MSU's largest (over 85,000 alumni) college-based constituency.

Ms. Blom has nearly 20 years of direct fundraising and management experience in all areas of advancement, from development to alumni relations and marketing. Prior to her arrival at the College of Social Science, she has served as MSU's director of special gifts and associate director of annual giving programs. Previously, she was the director of annual giving at California State University in Northridge.

In addition to managing a portfolio of major gift prospects, Ms. Blom works in close collaboration with deans, faculty, senior administrators, alumni volunteers, and fundraising staff across campus. She has served as faculty speaker for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) conferences, and is active with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

Ms. Blom holds a bachelor's degree in English and a master’s degree in higher, adult, and lifelong education from Michigan State University.
