Hawaii
The Study and Internship Program in Hawaii combines field experience with classroom learning. The program is designed for all majors, with students taking a multidisciplinary approach to diversity and social change in a multi-ethnic community. Specifically, they examine the styles of adaptation to interactions taking place between people of divergent socio-cultural backgrounds. For seniors in the social, behavioral, and economic sciences, an internship provides a capstone learning experience. This program is offered in collaboration with the University of Hawaii (UH), and MSU participants study with UH students. Interaction with others from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds enhances the significance of the academic experience.
