Center for Integrative Studies in Social Science
The Center for Integrative Studies in Social Science provides the core curriculum for undergraduate general education in the social sciences (ISS courses) at Michigan State University. Recognizing that the social, behavioral, and economic sciences are a vital part of a liberal arts education, ISS courses provide an introduction to the body of knowledge, theory, practice, and methods that these sciences bring to an understanding of the human condition. Interdisciplinary in nature, ISS courses emphasize the ways in which the social sciences and related disciplines are connected and cross boundaries. Within their integrative studies coursework, students explore ideas, develop critical thinking skills, and expand their perspectives, thus preparing them for advanced undergraduate study.
