Asian Pacific American Studies
The Asian Pacific American studies specialization focuses on social and cultural history and contemporary issues relating to Asian Pacific Americans, a diverse group of individuals who come from varying class, ethnic, religious, and national backgrounds. Asian Pacific Americans include Native Hawaiians, fourth-generation Japanese Americans, multi-racial students, and new Asian Indian immigrants. The objective is to teach students to think critically and analytically about issues of race, class, power, and representation as they affect Asian Americans and minority U.S. populations more broadly.
